First Underwater Shoot of 2010

Those of you in Seattle know that summer has been off to a very late start this year. In fact, no reasonable person would even claim that it is finally underway, but I can't really wait any longer. Tomorrow I'm doing my first underwater shoot of the season with Evilyn Sin Claire, of Sinner Saint Burlesque. Not only am I looking forward for this chance to work with Evilyn, but I'm also eager to verify that the fixes I made to my underwater case are in fact going to work. If you hear a loud anguished scream coming from the north end of the city, that would suggest that the fixes did not in fact work.

Underwater Photography Workshop for Summer 2010

This summer I am very excited to be working with my friend Patricia Ridenour to put on a workshop in underwater figure photography. The class is offered through Photographic Center Northwest and takes place in mid/late July. Here's the blurb from the course catalog:
Take your camera beneath the surface in this introduction to underwater photography. Learn techniques for using your camera underwater, work with models in a pool, and explore this unique approach to photographing the human figure.
There will be two classroom meetings and two days in the water, broken down as follows:
  • Friday July 16 6:00-9:00pm. Classroom session to introduce technique and make plans for the time in the water.
  • Saturday and Sunday July 24-25 12:00-4:00pm. In the water! Having two days back-to-back is extremely valuable as the photographers will have the chance to immediately refine anything they did on the first day.
  • Friday June 20 6:00-9:00pm. Classroom session to review shots from the previous weekend.

A Busy Summer Approaches

I currently have four models booked for doing underwater photos this summer, and I'm still working through scheduling details with five others. On top of that I'm co-teaching a workshop in u/w photography that will involve two days in the water. And then there will be other things that pop up that I really should ignore but will be too tempting to pass up. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.
